New to our range of printable fabrics is Belgian linen. Linen has multiple uses and our favourite is stretched over a frame just like a normal canvas print.
The Belgian linen has a number of properties which makes it a fantastic choice and a definite alternative to canvas. The linen has a much coarser weave than canvas and provides a totally unique printing option.
It has an organic warmth not found with canvas. The Belgian linen is a highly textured coarse weave which allows light to pass through it, when hanging flush against the wall however this is not noticeable. One thing to note if you choose the Belgian linen is that is does not print sharp crisp vibrant colours, it prints with more subdued tones. It also has a soft natural creamy base colour and is not bright white.
Colour Printing: We recommend black and white prints or subdued colour images for Belgian linen as the colour reproduction is not 100% accurate especially when delicate skin tones are being printed. If you are after 100% accurate colour then you will need our standard canvas.
When to use linen: Use Belgian linen to create a warm, organic feel to a room.
Lifespan: Belgian linen has the same 80 – 100yr archive rating as our canvas prints. When using the linen we spray coat the linen with the same protective UV coating as the canvas and stretch it over the same frame as our canvas prints.
